This is why I have this. Even if they can get the lock opened they can’t push the door open. Got it at Lowes for $20.

reblog for that last bit to save a life

If you’re like me and have a large gap under your front door (someone could take a stick and just poke the leaning stick style door jam out), I recommend the Addalock. It’s small, perfect for traveling, and this lock is CRAZY. It’s so simple but the door does not move.

You can’t see it from the other side, either. It also cost about $20, and I can’t recommend it enough. Easy to travel with, too! Great for Air BnBs!

That’s why I have these on my doors. They get drilled into the side and once its flipped over the door nothing is getting it open. Not the door being unlocked nothing, I’ve unlocked the door and pulled and pushed as hard as I could and it didn’t budge. When I go on a trip this is what I use and when I’m home I leave it on too. No one is getting in here. Read More »

I know there’s a much wider problem regarding this but I genuinely think Instagram is one of the main causes for a lot of body issues and mental health issues.

And I know there’s been a pushback recently against “modelling/influencer” Instagram with good looking people sitting awkwardly to show that most of their pictures are just good lighting and posing.

Too many people in my life have been pushed to the mental health brink by going down the rabbit hole of Instagram. An ex of mine started to compile a list of ‘body problems’ she had to solve - everything from a nose job to getting her jaw filed down.

Even if people don’t interact with *any* of these influencers posting photoshopped or heavily filtered images - they come up en masse in the explore feature. Read More »

Government criticised over bill that will in effect withdraw country from Istanbul convention

Women’s rights activists and opposition MPs have accused the Polish government of abandoning victims of domestic violence as a bill that would in effect take the country out of a key international convention on violence against women moved through parliament.

A vote last week on its first reading prompted demonstrations around Warsaw, including at the parliament, constitutional court and education ministry. Activists fear that victims of domestic violence will be left with no support or protection.

The vote to send it for examination by parliamentary committees took place only days after Turkey, the first state to ratify the Istanbul convention, withdrew from it by presidential decree. No date for a second reading in Poland has yet been set. Read More »

The Baptist church that held the fishing raffle told Emily Smaniotto that she could not participate because they were "living in the days of sexual scandals and accusations."

Always the outdoor enthusiast, Emily Smaniotto was thrilled to enter a church raffle for a bow-fishing trip. But her excitement faded quickly when she was told that an insurmountable issue stood in the way of winning: her gender.

“I remember the word ‘Really?’ coming out of my mouth,” Smaniotto, 27, said. “And I heard another woman say, ‘Are you serious?’ ”

The issue, church leaders said, was that a woman’s presence on the trip could lead to a bogus accusation of sexual misconduct. The guest pastor who raffled off the opportunity was simply protecting himself, they said. ... Read More »
